Submission Guidelines

Before you submit, we hope you’ll take a look around the site. Read a few stories. Look at photographs. Listen to the sounds and voices gathered here.

If you’d like to contribute, send us a pitch or a completed piece.

DEADLINE EXTENDED: We are now accepting pitches and submissions for Issue XVI until February 3rd.

We publish essays, poems, stories, photographs, drawings, paintings, audio, and video. If pitching, please include your name, the place, the medium, and your idea in 200-500 words. We respond to all pitches and submissions.

We are also extending our deadline for applications to join our editorial staff until February 3rd. To apply, fill out the TFS Editor Application. All current Yale students passionate about place-based storytelling are encouraged to apply.

E-mail pitches, submissions, and editorial staff applications to the editors-in-chief, Jordan Cutler-Tietjen (jordan.cutler-tietjen@yale.edu) and Laura Glesby (laura.glesby@yale.edu). Please feel free to email with any questions as well.
